The Altadena community gathered Saturday, Oct. 11, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Altadena Town Council.
Officials including Rep. Judy Chu, D-Pasadena, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger attended the community celebration and resource fair.
The first elections for the advisory board made up of volunteers was held on Oct. 11, 1975.
Attendees of the event at the Altadena Community Center enjoyed food and family friendly activities.
The celebration comes as the Town Council in the context of the aftermath of the catastrophic Eaton fire, which destroyed thousands of structures and left 19 dead in the unincorporated town.
Ultimately, the council is platform for the needs and wishes of the residents to give voice to issues to county, state or federal governmental agencies, and it’s a forum for town meetings, where such issues are aired.
It recently began meeting in person again, where topics related to the recovery of the town from the fire are top of the list.
