Photos: Bing Crosby’s Hillsborough mansion sells for $25 million

The Hillsborough estate of famed entertainer Bing Crosby has sold for $25 million. The property was originally listed in January for $40 million, after the passing of Kathryn Crosby, the second wife of the singer.

Built in the 1920’s for the Howard family, who owned renowned race horse Seabiscuit, Crosby purchased the home in the early 60’s. The 14,000-square-foot home features 11 bedrooms, a library, a smoking room and a wing of rooms created for the staff.

The staircase and paneling were also originally purchased from William Randolph Hearst’s collection of European furnishings that were intended for Hearst’s many residences including the  Hearst Castle.

Alex and Pierre Buljan of Compass were the listing agents.

This is one of the top five sales in the history of Hillsborough, according to Compass.
