Photos: It’s butterfly season at LA Natural History Museum’s pavilion

Los Angeles Natural History Museum takes wing this time of year. In fact, hundreds of wings.

The museum’s seasonal Butterfly Pavilion, open now though Aug. 24, boasts more than 24 different species of butterfly, including such California natives as the Mourning cloak and Common buckeye.

Museum educators and animal care specialists are on hand each day to offer details about these lovely creatures.

The cost is $10 per person (general admission also required) for a 30-minute visit to the pavilion — but free to members.

Reservation are required.
