The Nintendo Store San Francisco has had a busy few weeks after it opened this month, and it’s only going to grow busier with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 in a few days. The company seems to have prepared for disappointed fans who couldn’t score Warp Passes to visit this store by expanding the events surrounding the location.
Starting this Memorial Day weekend and running through July 23, Nintendo and the Union Square Alliance have teamed up to create a bit of magic around the tourist spot. The area is hosting a “Pikmin Bloom Mini Walk,” which is an in-game event for the Niantic-published title “Pikmin Bloom.”
It’s a game that works on the same technology as “Pokémon Go” but rather than collecting pocket monsters, players walk and grow the diminutive creatures. They can explore seven Special Spots in the app in the Union Square area and collect in-app Gold Seedlings that players can grow by walking.
In addition, a Pikmin Pop-Up Tent will be in the sector from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from May 23 to May 26 and July 4 to July 6 at 333 Post St. Players can visit the spot to pick up a physical version of the Mini Walk map, take a photo with the Pikmin Bloom AR cam and receive 100 My Nintendo PlatinumPoints at the My Nintendo kiosk.
The Pikmin event is one of two San Francisco showcases focused on Niantic-created titles. On Friday Aug. 29, the Giants are hosting a “Pokémon Go”-themed night at the ballpark.
