A light aircraft crashed into a field in Essex this afternoon, with firefighters pulling the pilot from the wreckage.
He had a lucky escape with only minor injuries, the ambulance service said.
Photos from the scene show the small, white plane crumped on the dry grass of the field in Stebbing, north Essex.
The air ambulance was called to the scene amid fears that the pilot could have been badly injured, as well as other emergency services.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service issued a statement today, saying: ‘Firefighters from Dunmow, Newport, Brentwood and Saffron Walden were called to a light aircraft crash in Stebbing this afternoon.

‘On arrival, crews worked with Police, Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance Service to help one casualty out of the aircraft and make the scene safe.’
Station Manager Scott Fretton said: ‘Crews assisted our emergency services colleagues with the casualty. They used an off road vehicle to dampen down the area around the aircraft as there was a risk it would set alight.’
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: ‘We were called just before 1.30pm with reports of a light aircraft crash near Whitehouse Road in Stebbing.
‘An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, three ambulance officer vehicles, the Hazardous Area Response Team and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.
‘The pilot, an adult male, was transported by road to Broomfield Hospital with minor injuries.’
