Police: California man arrested after attacking brother with samurai sword

A man was arrested after allegedly attacking his brother with a samurai sword and then holing up in his home Sunday morning, Oceanside police said.

Officers arrived at an Oceanside property on Arthur Avenue near Hollowglen Road around 6:35 a.m. and found a man who’d suffered serious injuries not thought to be life threatening, the department said in a press release.

The man was taken to a hospital to be treated.

Officers traveled to the alleged attacker’s home and spent 4 1/2 hours trying to get him to come out, officials said. A short time after the police SWAT Team responded, the 30-year-old man exited the home and was taken into custody. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

The department asked anyone with information about the incident to call detectives at 760-435-4378.
