Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could cause ‘chaos’ at the coronation

Does anyone have “the entire Sussex family perform on the balcony of Buckingham Palace” on their 2023 royal family bingo card? Because it looks like that might actually happen (although to be honest we never expected a Sussex in a postspare part World).

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been pushing for some changes to their family’s proposed role at the coronation before agreeing to the response, with the palace stressing that outright “chaos” could ensue.

“The palace is trying to complete the negotiations as soon as possible because they cannot go to the wire. It could lead to chaos,” a royal insider said OK! Magazine. “It could very well end in a stalemate and they won’t be taking part. But the palace is doing everything in its power not to let that happen.”

After King Charles is crowned, the royals are expected to gather on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to wave at the crowd/give people time to take a bajillion or so photos of them, and Harry and Meghan are reportedly having it asked that she and her children. Archie and Lilibet are among them. However, with the current expectation that only working royals will be invited to appear on the balcony, that’s a pretty big request that’s still not very likely to be granted.

Archie and Lilibet are not expected to attend the actual coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey, and Harry and Meghan are reportedly perfectly fine with skipping that part of the celebrations (as Archie and Lili are having three or no fun at all, prone to “restlessness and tantrums,” as the royal source put it). “What the Sussexes are urging, however, is that later that day they will be admitted to the palace with the rest of the family,” the source explained (per The mirror).

The final item the unnamed royal source spilled from this week’s Harry and Meghan’s coronation wish list: Literally any kind of acknowledgment on the day of Archie’s birthday, which is the same day as the coronation.

“It’s also Prince Archie’s birthday on Coronation Day, so they’d like some sort of nod to that at a lunch or drinks reception,” the insider added. “Even if it’s just a birthday greeting.”

To recap in general terms, Harry and Meghan are basically asking to be in a family photo, to be able to bring their kids to some family gatherings at their grandfather’s house, and for their relatives to say “Happy Birthday” to their son on his Birthday.
