Psychedelic Furs & The Jesus and Mary Chain are slated for SoCal shows this November

The Psychedelic Furs and The Jesus and Mary Chain will co-headline the YouTube Theater in Hollywood Park on Nov. 9. The two groups will also perform at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside on Wednesday, Nov. 6 and at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego on Friday, Nov. 8.

Tickets for the shows, which include a guest performance with former Crystal Stilts and Dum Dum Girls drummer Frankie Rose, go on sale Friday, June 21 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.com.

British post-punk group The Psychedelic Furs, founded in late ’70s London, experimented with several different genres, from new wave to hard rock. “Heaven,” “Love My Way” and “Pretty in Pink,” a track used in John Hughes’ 1986 film of the same name, were some of the band’s most successful hits. The group went on a hiatus in the ’90s before returning to perform live in 2000. They released “Made of Rain,” their first studio album in nearly three decades, in July 2020, and it became the band’s second-highest-ranking U.K. album.

Scottish alternative rock group The Jesus and Mary Chain are on tour celebrating their 40-year anniversary as a band, as well as their latest album, “Glasgow Eyes,” which dropped in March. Founded by brothers Jim and William Reid, the group is credited as one of the pioneers of the shoegaze genre and is known for songs such as “Just Like Honey,” “Head On,” and “April Skies.” In March, the Reid brothers announced their memoir, “Never Understood, The Story Of The Jesus & Mary Chain,” which is slated for release later this year. The book will delve into the origins of the band for one of the very first times and provide insight into the band’s infighting, drug and alcohol addictions, as well as how they coped with their extreme shyness.
