An armed man who was threatening to hurt his family was fatally shot by a Pueblo police officer Tuesday morning after refusing to drop his gun, officials said.
Police were called to the 100 block of Glen Royal Drive in south Pueblo at 11:44 a.m. when someone reported a man was making threats to harm members of his family, the Pueblo Police Department said in a news release.
Officers could see he had a gun, and one officer shot him after the man did not follow orders to drop the weapon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers or bystanders were injured in the shooting, police officials said.
The 10th Judicial District’s Critical Incident Response Team will investigate the shooting, and the man will be identified by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office.
