The Pasadena Unified School District All-Star Band has been selected to participate in the 2027 Rose Parade.
In 2022, a PUSD All-Star Band participated in the parade with a 45 students and this time it will be made up of 120 students from four Pasadena high schools. It will feature four drum majors, one from each high school represented in the band.
PUSD and Tournament of Roses representatives surprised members of the all-star band with the announcement of its selection at an assembly Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Pasadena High School.
In its 6-minute submission video, band directors and students talked about the impact of the Eaton fire on the band.
“We have literally come through the fire, we’re looking at the other side and we want to bring an incredible experience to these students,” band director Karen Klages said.
The video included the band running through a field show, parade block and a 105 degree turn.
“It’s really important that we show the world that even though that we suffered this loss we’re still pushing through and we’re pushing through for our community, for our schools and for each other,” drum major Scarlett Glick said.
The 2027 Rose Parade will be the 138th in its history.
