Ravens QB Lamar Jackson practices for 3rd consecutive day, but John Harbaugh vague about status vs. Bears

It’s always hard to be certain with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, but it looks like he’ll start Sunday against the Bears.

Jackson has been out since hurting his hamstring Sept. 28 and only returned to practice Wednesday. He was limited until Friday, when he practiced in full for the first time in nearly a month; coach John Harbaugh listed him as questionable on the injury report.

Harbaugh said he was encouraged by Jackson’s practice, but wouldn’t give any hint about whether he’ll play. He said the Ravens will start Tyler Huntley if he’s out.

He has missed 13 games over the last five seasons and was scratched due to illness just hours before the Ravens visited the Bears in 2021. Huntley started that game and led the team to a 16-13 win as the Bears spiraled in Matt Nagy’s final season.

Bears coach Ben Johnson has said all week his team has been preparing as though Jackson would play. There’s an enormous dropoff between him and backups Huntley and Cooper Rush.

Jackson is a two-time MVP, and the Ravens are 71-27 when he starts. He was off to a tremendous start this season before the injury: 130.5 passer rating, a 71.6 completion percentage and 258.8 yards per game passing and rushing combined.

In the two games he missed this season, Rush and Huntley managed a combined 319 yards passing with a 42.4 passer rating and threw four interceptions while the Ravens lost twice by a total of 61-13.
