A fire in Jurupa Valley that burned 7 acres early Thursday evening was threatening structures and prompted evacuations.
Officials reported the vegetation fire, dubbed the Real fire, just before 5 p.m. near Granite Hill Drive and Camino Real Road. It was spreading at a moderate rate of speed, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. At one point, it was threatening structures, according to Watch Duty, a nonprofit app that monitors wildfires.
Residents were ordered to evacuate if they live north of Granite Hill Drive, east of Edgewood Point, west of Boulder Drive and south of the water towers, fire officials said. An evacuation warning was issued for anyone north of Granite Hill Drive, east of Boulder Drive, west of Soto Drive and south of the water towers.
A care and reception center was established at Patriot High School at 4355 Camino Real. Small animals can accompany evacuees and large animals can be taken to Riverside County Animal Shelter at 6851 Van Buren Blvd.
No injuries have been reported, and fire officials did not know how many structures were threatened.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
