A 38-year-old registered sex offender was arrested for allegedly loitering in the women’s department at a Burbank store and engaging in lewd behavior toward a female victim, police said.
Officers responded to Nordstrom Rack at 1601 N. Victory Place in the Burbank Empire Center on Tuesday following reports of a suspicious individual roaming through the women’s department and sexually harassing a female customer, according to the Burbank Police Department.
Calese Carron Crowder of Glendale had left the store before officers arrived, but they tracked him down at a Walmart store at 1301 N. Victory Place, where they took him into custody.
“Using the store’s surveillance system, officers monitored the suspect as he moved through various departments. While in the women’s section, the suspect was observed following a female customer, crouching near her and engaging in lewd behavior,” police said in a statement.
Crowder, a registered sex offender currently on parole, has a history of similar offenses in Glendale and Burbank dating back to 2021, according to police.
He was booked on suspicion of loitering with intent to commit a crime and was being held without bail, according to police and jail records.
Anyone with information regarding the case or individuals who believe Crowder may have victimized them was urged to contact the Burbank Police Department’s Investigations Division at 818-238-3210.
