A death investigation is underway after human remains were found in a suitcase Friday morning on the Southwest Side.
Around 11:55 a.m. Friday, officers responded to the 3300 block of South Kedzie Avenue near the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, Chicago police said.
There, officers located a green suitcase and inside it found a “badly decomposed” body of an unidentified male, according to police reports.
Autopsy reports were pending, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Area 4 detectives were investigating and canvassing the area searching for any video evidence.
