Residents were ordered to evacuate Monday evening as crews respond to a wildfire that sparked west of Boulder.
The fire is near the 700 block of Wild Turkey Trail in Fourmile Canyon, according to Boulder County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Vinnie Montez. The fire, about one to two acres in size, doesn’t appear to be growing much, Montez said.
Residents who live in the areas along Four Mile Canyon Drive southeast of Gold Run Road near Crisman are being ordered to use Evening Star Road to evacuate, according to a Boulder County Everbridge alert. Residents should avoid Wild Turkey Trail, the alert said.
An evacuation warning was issued for residents along Four Mile Canyon Drive northwest of Boulder Canyon Drive, including the Seven Hills area and parts of Switzerland Trail and Sunshine Canyon Drive. Residents in these areas should prepare to evacuate or evacuate immediately if they need extra time, the alert said.
Others should avoid the area so first responders can respond, Montez said in a video post to the social media.
Montez did not have information about how many people are being told to leave or the cause of the fire.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
