RICHMOND — A man accused of killing his colleague at a local breakfast restaurant has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities confirmed Monday.
The suspect, a 44-year-old man whose name has not been released, died at a hospital after shooting himself outside the San Pablo police department. His suicide occurred on Dec. 30, the day after he allegedly shot and killed Romario Raso Garcia in the kitchen of an IHOP at the 3400 block of Klose Way in Richmond where both men worked.
Garcia was identified through a GoFundMe by his family. Authorities haven’t released the suspected motive for the killing.
The suspect had a warrant for his arrest when he showed up to the San Pablo police department, attempted to speak with an officer, then shot himself after a brief interaction. Authorities said the interaction went nowhere due to a language barrier.
