RICHMOND — A 43-year-old man was shot and killed here Wednesday morning by a person who fired more than a dozen shots after spotting him in the front of a residence, police say.
The victim, identified by authorities as Richmond resident Danny Barnes, was killed at around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, while standing outside a residence on the 2400 block of Aberdeen Way, police said. Barnes’ death marks Richmond’s first homicide of 2023.
Police say it appears to be a targeted shooting; the suspect was driving by, apparently spotted Barnes, stopped the vehicle, and opened fire. Barnes died before paramedics could get there, authorities say.
Police continue to investigate and have not made any arrests.
Authorities say anyone with information can call Det. Orlando Guzman at 510-965-4966, email him at oguzman@richmondpd.net or they can contact Richmond’s anonymous tip line at (510) 307-T1PS (8177)
