OAKLAND — A Sacramento man has resolved his human trafficking case by pleading no contest to a lesser offense for probation, court records show.
Darrin Steele, 29, was charged last year with trafficking a then-16-year-old girl in Oakland. Instead, Steele pleaded no contest to an accessory charge and will be sentenced on July 2 to a two-year probation term.
Other terms of his sentence include a 10-year court order to stay away from the victim, and to stay out of areas known for prostitution in Alameda County, court records show.
Steele has been out of jail since shortly after his arrest last year. He was charged with trafficking a teen he met on Instagram in 2022. Police obtained an arrest warrant for him that year but didn’t find him until 2024, court records show.
