San Jose: Firefighters respond to blazes south of Mineta International

SAN JOSE — Firefighters responded to multiple fires south of the San Jose Mineta International Airport on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The blazes were reported at 4:21 p.m., and forward progress was stopped at 5:08 p.m., according to a social media post from the San Jose Fire Department. The fires received a tier one response.

The fires did not impact operations at the airport, said Julie Jarratt, the airport’s public information manager.

After the forward progress was stopped, firefighters began an “extensive” mop up, authorities said.

Authorities asked people to avoid the area as traffic was impacted.
