SAN JOSE — Police arrested five male juvenile suspects from Livermore — the youngest just 12 years old — for allegedly robbing a man coming out of a casino of $2,000, with one striking him with the handle of a firearm, authorities said.
The suspects — the 12-year-old, along with two youths aged 17, as well as a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old — were held on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and brandishing a firearm, according to a press release from the San Jose Police Department. All five were booked into Juvenile Hall.
Shortly before 9 p.m. June 23, police responded to a report of an armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon outside a casino, authorities said. As the victim exited the casino, four suspects allegedly attempted to steal his bag, with one brandishing a firearm. One of the suspects then hit the victim with the handle of the firearm.
The suspects then stole about $2,000 and personal belongings from the victim and fled in a vehicle, authorities said.
The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, police added.
Investigators with the SJPD Robbery Unit were able to identify the five suspects, authorities said. Police got arrest and search warrants for the residences of the suspects.
On Sept. 3 and Sept. 4, the five suspects were all arrested in Livermore with the assistance of the Livermore Police Department and the SJPD Covert Response Unit, police said. While carrying out the residential search warrants, officers found evidence that connected the suspects to the incident.
