The early morning shooting outside a local business claimed the life of 35-year-old San Jose resident Khoa Dag. Until recently, there was no public disclosure about the shooter, who fled before police arrived.

In early May, San Jose police released Mac’s name and photo to the public to generate leads on his whereabouts. Investigators believed that he traveled to the Las Vegas area immediately after the shooting.

But Mac was in San Jose when a contingent of SJPD MERGE officers — the city’s SWAT equivalent — and covert and special-operations officers arrested him. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of murder.

Police on Monday lauded members of the public for providing “critical information” in helping them locate Mac.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who shared information, kept this case in the public eye, and supported the search for justice,” the department said in a statement.

Mac is being held without bail in the Main Jail, for a murder charge that was filed un August, despite Mac being on the run, records show.
