San Mateo: Three suspects arrested after gas station shooting

SAN MATEO — Three men were arrested after allegedly shooting a firearm at an occupied vehicle in May, authorities said.

The three suspects were identified as a 19-year-old resident of San Mateo, a 22-year-old resident of Millbrae and 20-year-old resident of San Mateo, according to a press release from the San Mateo Police Department.

Around 9:30 p.m. on May 9, police responded to a gas station attendant’s report of a “loud bang” at a Shell gas station at 1400 West Hillsdale Boulevard, authorities said. When officers arrived, they located a 9mm shell casing.

In their subsequent investigation, police found that the suspects had shot at an occupied vehicle, authorities said. No one was injured due to the shooting.

Investigators obtained arrest warrants for the three suspects, authorities said. Two of the suspects were in custody for a separate crime in San Francisco, and the warrants were added to their bookings there.

The first suspect was charged with shooting at an inhabited vehicle, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possessing a firearm as a felon, possessing a firearm with a previous conviction and street terrorism, according to court records.

The second suspect was charged with shooting at an occupied vehicle, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, unlawful firearm activity and street terrorism, according to court records.

The third suspect was arrested Wednesday in the area of Cypress Avenue and North Amphlett Boulevard in San Mateo, authorities added. Police also executed search warrants at the suspect’s two residences in San Mateo and Hayward, finding a Glock pistol and ammunition.

The third suspect was booked into San Mateo County jail. He was charged with one count of accessory after the fact, meaning he allegedly harbored or aided a suspect to help avoid arrest, according to court records.
