San Pedro Fish Market’s ShrimpFest returns with three days of ‘more than you can eat’ seafood

The San Pedro Fish Market will be attracting seafood lovers with jumbo appetites when its annual all you can eat ShrimpFest returns this month with three events at three of the restaurant’s locations.

“If you’re a seafood lover you can’t miss out on this event where you can have spectacular all-you-can-eat seafood,” said Mike Ungaro, CEO and co-owner of the famous family-run restaurant, which was founded by his grandfather in a small San Pedro corner store in 1956.

For the first time since its launch, the fourth annual festival will take place on three different days at three Fish Market spots starting Oct. 11 at the Wilmington location, then Oct. 18 at the flagship San Pedro restaurant and Oct. 25 at the Long Beach restaurant.

The ShrimpFest, which is dubbed as a “more than you can eat” event, is happening in conjunction with the restaurant’s reality TV show “Kings of Fi$H,” which follows the family and its growing restaurant empire. The show recently jumped from a web series to make its debut on Amazon Prime in August.

“We’re also using the festival as an opportunity to showcase our new series on Amazon Prime which tells the whole story of our family business. So each event will have some of the Kings of Fish family cast members there,” he said.

And for fans of their food, the $69.99 ticket at each ShrimpFest event means people will be able to dine from a “more than you can eat” menu that includes regular items as well as a few off-menu specials and of course the restaurant’s famous Shrimp Tray, which is a platter of shrimp and veggie mix seared and slightly smoked in what’s known as “a la plancha” style.

“That’s our signature dish but the festival will have a lot more to offer,” Ungaro said.

People can also expect dishes like Lobster Grilled Cheese and Loaded Potatoes, which will only be available at the Wilmington location. Other food specials throughout the festival includes sliders, fried calamari and shrimp, shrimp Po-Boys, oyster, taco, and ceviche bars, shrimp cocktails, head-on prawns, ceviche platters and poke bowls plus live music. And if somehow you’re still craving more seafood, each ticket holder will receive a $49.99 coupon good for the next visit to any of the restaurants.
