SANTA CLARA — Police fatally shot a suspect who had allegedly stabbed another person at a residence Wednesday morning, authorities said.
The police officer involved in the shooting was not injured, according to a news release from the Santa Clara Police Department.
Around 6:18 a.m., officers responded to a call reporting that the suspect had stabbed one victim at a residence on the 1800 Block of Eisenhower Drive, authorities said.
When officers arrived, they encountered and shot the suspect, authorities said. No further details on the encounter were provided.
The suspect was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital, authorities added.
The victim of the stabbing was receiving treatment at a hospital for their injuries.
Police added that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
An investigation into the incident will be jointly conducted by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and the Santa Clara County Police Department, authorities added.
The investigation is ongoing and police said they anticipate releasing an update Thursday afternoon.
