Saratoga resident wires $45,400 to phony IT rep

Public intoxication: At 11:05 a.m., deputies contacted a pedestrian with an open container at Saratoga Avenue and Prospect Road. An investigation revealed the suspect had an outstanding warrant and was unable to care for himself due to being under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested and booked into main jail.

Oct. 7

Theft by false pretenses: A Saratoga resident reported that someone contacted them acting as computer tech support and ultimately convinced the victim to wire money to an unknown account for a loss of about $45,400.

Oct. 11

Vandalism: Between 11 a.m. and 1:18 p.m., someone pried open the mailbox of a residence in the 21000 block of Saratoga Hills Road, causing damage. No mail was reported stolen. The total amount of damage was about $450.
