Theft by false pretenses: A Saratoga resident reported purchasing a tractor from someone online. The victim wire transferred the funds, never received delivery and was unable to contact the suspect thereafter, for a total loss of about $8,500.
Aug. 20
Vandalism: Between 6:30 a.m. and 6:20 p.m., someone kicked a vehicle parked in the 14000 block of Pike Road multiple times, denting the vehicle and causing damage estimated at approximately $1,800.
Stolen vehicle: At 7:54 a.m., two suspects stole a vehicle from the driveway of a residence in the 19000 block of Gunther Court using a key stolen from the residence when it was burglarized days prior.

Theft by false pretenses: A Saratoga resident reported that someone contacted them posing as a representative of the victim’s cryptocurrency investment company, claimed their account was compromised, and ultimately convinced them to open another account and transfer their cryptocurrency to that account. The victim complied and lost the crypto for a total loss of about $100,000.
Theft by false pretenses: A Saratoga resident reported that someone contacted them posing as an agent with the US Marshal, claimed she was the victim of identity theft and ultimately convinced her to package cash into four separate boxes, which the suspect collected from the victim at various locations, including her residence in the 13000 block of Vaquero Court, for a total loss of about $120,000.
Shoplifting: At 10:30 p.m., four suspects entered Safeway in the Argonaut Center on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, acted in concert, and stole merchandise. One suspect was identified from prior thefts.
Aug. 23
Vehicle burglary: Between 4 p.m. on Aug. 22 and 8:51 a.m. on Aug. 23, someone broke a window of a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in the 12000 block of Obrad Drive and stole tools valued at approximately $2,450.
False registration tab: At 2:10 p.m., deputies stopped a motorist at Prospect Road and Lawrence Expressway for an equipment violation. An investigation revealed the vehicle’s registration had expired, but a current registration tab was affixed to the rear license plate. The driver was cited and released.
Attempted residential burglary, vandalism: At 9:44 p.m., two suspects attempted to enter a residence in the 12000 block of Dover Court by breaking a glass door leading to the primary bedroom of the home, but the residents were in that bedroom at the time and the suspects fled the scene without gaining entry. The total amount of damage to the door was estimated at about $1,000.
