Sean “Diddy” Combs arrived at New Jersey’s FCI Fort Dix to begin serving his prison sentence on Thursday.
The facility is where the 55-year-old music mogul is expected to serve the remainder of his four-year term following his conviction in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
Diddy’s move to the low-security prison is likely a welcome change after being locked up at Brooklyn’s notorious Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest in September of last year.
According to ABC News, the rapper is not being housed among the general population at the prison, which is located in New Hanover Township about 35 miles northeast of Philly.
His attorneys specifically requested the move to Fort Dix, which houses a drug treatment unit that could help him address his substance abuse issues and, if successful, potentially shave time of Combs’ sentence.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons currently has Combs’ release date listed as May 8, 2028, but that information could change. A federal appeals court also could expedite his challenge of his convictions.
TMZ reported last week that President Trump may soon commute Combs’ sentence, though the White House denied that claim.
Diddy has already served nearly 14 months since his arrest and subsequent conviction on the two lesser prostitution-related charges. He was cleared of more the serious sex trafficking and RICO charges, for which he could have faced life behind bars.
Prosecutors charged Combs with offenses related to his wild sex parties known as “freak offs” following an investigation that included federal raids on his Los Angeles and Miami properties in March 2024.
He was accused of using the “business empire he controlled to sexually abuse and exploit women, as well as to commit other acts of violence and obstruction of justice,” the feds said.
Combs’ lawyers argued their client did host the gatherings for consensual sex, but that he had no financial motive for doing so.
