Search launched after boy goes missing while swimming in a lake

The boy went missing at Crown Lakes

Emergency services are urgently searching for a boy who vanished while swimming in a lake.

The boy went missing at about 4pm today at Crown Lakes near Farcet, Peterborough.

Cambridgeshire Police, the fire service and paramedics are all on scene as specialist equipment is used to search for the boy.

Emergency crews were searching the lake in boats into Thursday evening.

A force spokesperson told The Sun: ‘We ask that members of the public stay away from the area while this work is carried out.

‘The boy’s family are aware.’

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue told Metro: ‘I can confirm crews were called to Crown Lakes in Farcet around 4pm this afternoon (April 3) to assist our police and ambulance colleagues at an incident.’

Crown Lakes Country Park is located near the village of Farcet on the outskirts of Peterborough.

The former brick working was transformed into a country park in the 90s.
