President Trump’s Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy has taken a break this week from doing pull-ups and encouraging Americans to ditch their sweatpants and dress nicely while traveling by air to amplify a video of iconic mega pop star Taylor Swift, whom the President once famously said he “hated.”
Duffy shared the video of Swift giving extraordinarily generous bonuses to everyone involved in her uber successful Eras Tour, including truck drivers who Swift tipped a cool $100K each. With his share, Duffy added, “Our amazing truckers deserve every penny!”
Duffy’s amplification and comment are angering both MAGA supporters and “Swifties,” devoted fans of Swift. One MAGA supporter replied to Duffy: “Why are you giving Taylor Swift free positive pr from a government account? She’s a billionaire who needs good press right now and you just gave it to her.”
Swifties are also blasting Duffy with comments including “You had absolutely nothing to do with this,” and “You have nothing to do with this and no credit to claim.” Another wrote: “A Republican taking credit for something they had nothing to do with or outright voted against?!?”
Another defended Swift by writing: “Keep Taylor’s name out of your mouth and ask the rest of your MAGA colleagues to do so too.”
Swift made her political choice clear during the last presidential election, and she did not choose Duffy’s team. After the sole debate between Trump and the Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, the pop superstar wrote: “Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
