Baby fever has spread throughout Brookfield Zoo Chicago.
The zoo will have several new babies — many coming from an endangered species — available for zoo-goers to see this spring, the zoo announced in a statement.
Some of the babies include Humboldt penguin chicks, a nyala antelope calf, a western gray kangaroo joey and Lake Titicaca frogs, the zoo said.
Brookfield Zoo has led efforts in a conservation program at Punta San Juan for nearly 20 years, according to the statement. Researchers estimate the wild population of the penguins to be under 24,000 and about 30 live in a colony at the zoo.
The penguins will be on display beginning in June, officials said.
Other babies expected to be on display include Silver-Beaked Tanagers, Saffron Finches, Emperor Spotted Newts and Binturongs.
