The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several counties on the far Eastern Plains of Colorado — a notice that includes the potential for tornadoes.
The watch, which covers Logan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma counties in addition to a wide swath of western Kansas and a chunk of southwest Nebraska, is valid until 9 p.m.
In Colorado, the National Weather Service is calling for potential heavy weather across an area near the Kansas border, including in the vicinity of the cities of Yuma and Sterling.
More than 300 flights were delayed at Denver International Airport on Tuesday afternoon because of thunderstorm activity.
