Sharks acquire forward from Dallas Stars for draft pick

SAN JOSE — The San Jose Sharks took a step toward bolstering the depth of their forward group Wednesday by acquiring Ty Dellandrea from the Dallas Stars for a 2025 fourth-round draft pick initially owned by the Winnipeg Jets.

Dellandrea, who turns 24 next month, was a healthy scratch 40 times this past season on a deep Stars team that won the Central Division and advanced to the Western Conference Final.

Dellandrea had nine points in 42 games for the Stars last season, averaging 12:40 in ice time per game. He ranked sixth among team forwards in hits (63) and was fifth in shorthanded time on ice (78:19). He also took 224 faceoffs for the Stars in 2023-24.

Dellandrea, a Toronto native, scored one goal in six games during Dallas’ run to the Western Conference final this spring. He is set to become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights. This past season, he earned $900,000.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Dellandrea was the Stars’ first-round draft pick, 13th overall, in 2018. He has 42 points in 151 NHL games and 59 points in 87 AHL games with the Texas Stars.
