Sharks cut 7 from training camp roster, including 2025 first-round goalie
Goalie Josh Ravensbergen, the second of the Sharks’ pair of first-round picks in this spring’s entry draft, was among the seven players cut as San Jose reduced its training camp roster by seven on Monday.
Ravensbergen, 18, was the 30th overall pick after posting a .901 save percentage and a 33-13-4 record for Prince George of the WHL. The Sharks selected center Michael Misa with the second overall pick. Misa made his NHL preseason debut Sunday night in San Jose’s 3-0 win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

Ravensbergen and fellow goalie Christian Kirsch (4th-round pick in 2024), and forwards Max Heise (5th round in 2025) and Teddy Mutryn (3rd round in 2025) were assigned to their respective CHL teams. Defensemen Artem Guryev (5th round in 2021) was assigned to the Barracuda of the AHL, and defensemen Jack Bar and John Gormley were both released from their PTOs and will join the Barracuda’s camp.
The Sharks’ training camp roster is now at 56 players, with 34 forwards, 17 defensemen and five goalies. The roster must be at 23 players by Oct. 6 before their season opener three days later against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Sharks’ next preseason game is Friday night at SAP Center against Vegas.
