GILROY – A person was seriously injured in a shooting Monday in Gilroy, police said.
The shooting happened around 2 p.m. in the 500 block of Broadway, according to the Gilroy Police Department.
A suspect was detained, police said.
The person who was shot was taken to an area hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.
“This remains a very active investigation and scene,” police reported in an update around 2:20 p.m., “but there is no threat to public safety.”
Additional details about the incident will be released Tuesday, according to police.
The 500 block of Broadway was closed for an investigation until about 5:50 p.m. Monday.
