In a vacuum, most White Sox fans clearly would be all for Jerry Reinsdorf selling the team. But in this week’s “Polling Place,” your home for Sun-Times sports polls on the social platform X, we asked whether you’d want that even not knowing if the next owner(s) would keep the team in Chicago.
The yeses outpaced the nos by a three-to-one margin. As @SultanOfClout put it, though, “It doesn’t matter who the owner is if we don’t have a team.”
Next, we asked which team is most in need of a change in ownership, the Sox, the Bears, the Bulls or the Sky? It was the Sox in a runaway, though a few commenters suggested an “all of the above” option. @RLSandack’s one-word answer: “Yes.”
Last, we asked which team you’ll root for, the Dodgers or the Yankees, if they meet in the World Series. @MEATBALLCHICAGO picked the Yankees because of ex-Cub Anthony Rizzo. So did @JeffreyCanalia, who added, “I named my dog after him.” And then there’s @ebsoftball, who’ll be rooting for — ahem — a meteor.
On to the polls:
Poll No. 1: Do you want Jerry Reinsdorf to sell the White Sox even if you can’t be sure the next owner(s) would keep the team in Chicago?
It’s time for this week’s “Polling Place.” Let us hear from you! Selected comments will appear in Sunday’s paper. ⬇️

Upshot: One commenter, @FatDudeRunning, cautioned, “Be careful what you wish for,” making the point that there are sports owners worse than Reinsdorf. That’s fair. On the other hand, try selling that to an angry dude in a Konerko jersey.
Poll No. 2: Which of these teams is most in need of a change of ownership?

Upshot: The Bulls are going on 10 years without winning a playoff series. The Bears haven’t won a Super Bowl since you were an inch and a half taller. The Sky practice in a strip mall, for crying out loud. But, sure, it’s all about the worst-team-of-all-time Sox. Boy, this paragraph was depressing.
Poll No. 3: If it comes down to a Dodgers-Yankees World Series, which side will you root for?

Upshot: Have you ever sat back and asked yourself, “How many Dodgers and Yankees are better than any player on either team in Chicago?” Frankly, we don’t recommend it.
