Six Flags Magic Mountain to turn kids area into Looney Tunes Land

A major refurbishment of the aging Bugs Bunny World at Six Flags Magic Mountain will give Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner and the Tasmanian Devil starring roles in the rethemed 40-year-old kids area.

Six Flags Magic Mountain will transform Bugs Bunny World into Looney Tunes Land starting in early January with the newly rethemed kids area reopening by summer 2026 in celebration of the Valencia amusement park’s 55th anniversary.

“I don’t think there’s ever been a complete overhaul to the area other than just adding and removing rides,” said Six Flags Director of Construction Dave Evans. “It’s in need of a nice new refresh in multiple areas to enhance the guest experience.”

The massive makeover will introduce two new play areas, retheme five rides and remove two roller coasters and two kids rides.

“There’s a great collection of rides in the kids area. There’s great things for the kids to do, but it just isn’t clearly defined,” Evans said during a phone interview. “We’re trying to bring families in and let them have things to do so that it’s not just ride a ride and get out.”

Work will proceed in three phases with portions of the four acre kids area remaining opening throughout construction.

“We’ve got a lot we’re going to do. It’s going to really be spectacular,” Evans said. “Looking at the overall vision for the area, it’s about not just the quantity of rides, but more the quality of the overall experience.”

The Six Flags creative team will draw inspiration from Warner Bros. cartoon animator Chuck Jones for the new Looney Tunes Land that will be divided into four distinct zones: Bugs Bunny’s Play Park, Camp Duck Amuck, Road Runner Ridge and Taz-Mania.

“You’re coming into each of the characters’ homes and traveling with your family from one zone to the next almost like it’s a postcard-type experience,” Evans said.

The new land will adopt a campground travel park theme with each district sporting distinct landscaping, signage and color palettes.

Visitors will spot footprints belonging to Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner and Taz in the cement.

Bugs Bunny’s Play Park

The central park area dedicated to the rascally rabbit will feature the new Bugs Bunny’s play area which will replace the Speedy Gonzales Hot Rod Racers roller coaster and Pepe Le Pew’s Tea Party tea cups.

The playground will include a play tree structure, burrow tunnel, slides and carrot climbing elements.

The Merrie Melodies Merrie-Go-Round will be refurbished to match the look of Bugs Bunny’s Play Park.

Granny’s House will be relocated to the central park area with an explorable interior space.

The exterior of Wascal’s restaurant will be updated to match the civic center theme with an expanded outdoor dining area.

Elmer Fudd’s Weather Balloons ride, Sylvester’s Pounce & Bounce kids drop tower and Yosemite Sam’s Flight School plane ride will remain after the makeover.

Camp Duck Amuck

Forest ranger Daffy Duck will lead a troop of junior rangers through a High Sierra territory where it’s never duck hunting season.

Taz’s Trucking Company will be rethemed as Daffy’s Forest Four-Wheelers with humorous woodsy scenes along the trail that put an emphasis on the importance of nature conservation and camping safety.

The Looney Tunes Lodge indoor playground will be transformed into a mountain cabin with new wood grain foam flooring.

Daffy Duck’s Adventure Tours bus ride will remain and the Canyon Blaster coaster will be reimagined to match the High Sierra theme of Camp Duck Amuck.

Road Runner Ridge

Kids will join Wile E. Coyote as he chases the Road Runner across a New Mexico-inspired desert filled with Acme traps and gadgets.

Wile E’s iconic painted tunnel will serve as a photo op backdrop in the new Road Runner Ridge district dedicated to the dueling duo.

The Road Runner Express coaster will remain after the transformation to Looney Tunes Land.

Taz-Mania

Taz-Mania’s lush tropical district will be designed by the destructive Taz who wreaks havoc after escaping his cage.

The Whistlestop Train will be rethemed as Taz’s Tasmanian Train Tours where riders hop aboard the Tasmanian Express for a tour through the island’s wilderness.

“We’re going to add scenes and storylines throughout the ride as you go through Taz’s adventure,” Evans said.

Taz’s Exploration Trail will replace the Magic Flyer roller coaster and Tweety’s Escape birdcage ride.

Families will embark on a treasure hunt along the Tasmania Trail with a thematic tie-in to Taz.

Phased Construction

Work on the first of three construction phases will begin after the Holiday in the Park seasonal event ends on Jan. 4.

“They will open in waves,” Evans said. “We’ll reopen phase one ideally before we go into phase two. There might be a little bit of overlap there, but we’re trying to keep 65% of the area open at all times.”
