The viewing point was built close to Es Morro den Moll – a cliff with a drop of more than 400ft.

Emergency rescuers from Algaida Local Police and Majorca Fire Department were called after the French holidaymakers got trapped under the rubble.

Initially, authorities were able to safely rescue four people with non-severe injuries before rushing them to different hospitals.

Two more were then pulled from the rubble.

Joan Fornàs,  the island’s director of the Interior Department, visited the scene of the incident and supervised the work of the emergency teams on site.

Nearby roads were closed during the rescue operation.

Authorities are now investigating the cause of Sunday afternoon’s accident.

Just months ago, four people died and 16 were injured after a beach club on the island collapsed.

Witnesses spoke of their terror as they watched the bar collapse as if a “bomb” had exploded.

Grisly footage later emerged showing people screaming, crying and fleeing, while a body lies lifeless on the pavement.

Just one day before the floor caved in, the popular night spot unveiled a new terrace bar.

Two female German tourists, aged 20 and 30, a Senegalese man, 44, and a fourth female victim, 23, were killed.
