BATON ROUGE, La. — Sky star Angel Reese opened the preseason Friday playing with her shooting hand taped because of a wrist injury, but looked like herself with 15 points and 10 rebounds in just 17 minutes during an 89-62 win over the Brazilian national team at LSU.
Reese suffered a fracture in her left wrist last season and missed the final six games. She returned to play in the Unrivaled three-on-three league this year, but missed the end of that season as well after hurting her wrist again when another player hit it going for a rebound.
Reese said Friday the second injury was “just a sprain” and having her left hand wrapped is a non-issue.
“I’ve been doing it since the end of Unrivaled, so it’s been fine,” she said.
The Sky have two preseason games left, Tuesday at home against the Lynx and a May 10 visit to face them in Minneapolis. The season opens May 17 against Caitlin Clark and the Fever in Indianapolis.
