Southport killer Axel Rudakubana will face extra security measures after he allegedly attacked a prison officer, it has been claimed.
The 18-year-old, who murdered three girls last July, is facing severe restrictions that has been compared to the treatment of Hannibal Lecter.
It is believed that Rudakubana will now be fed through a hatch and will have a five-guard escort at Belmarsh Prison, echoing Anthony Hopkins’ character in the 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs.
The Sun reported a source as saying: ‘Rudakubana will only be able to open the latch on his side once the officers have shut the box and closed it on their side.
‘This is a huge deal in UK jails as it is considered it dehumanises inmates.
‘He will be let out of his cell only after being searched and escorted by at least five officers, who will be in PPE and could use a dog.’
The killer is alleged to have thrown boiling water at a prison guard last Thursday.
Shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick compared the incident to a recent attack on prison guards by the Manchester Arena terrorist Hashem Abedi.

He said: ‘We must never put the rights of criminals and terrorists above the safety of prison officers.
‘Labour’s Justice Secretary needs to get a grip or else I fear it is only a matter of time before a prison officer loses their life.’
Abedi threw hot cooking oil on officers and stabbed them with ‘homemade weapons,’ according to Prison Officers’ Association.
Rudakubana now faces being moved to another prison to serve his 52-year sentence for a murder spree at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.
