Stadium Super Truck driver visits children’s hospital ahead of Grand Prix of Long Beach

Before driving 150-mph this weekend during the Grand Prix of Long Beach, Stadium Super Truck driver Zoey Edenholm decided to slow down and visit patients at the Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital on Thursday, April 10.

This was the second year that the young female race car driver visited the local Long Beach hospital on the eve of the high-speed race weekend.

Edenholm visited the youngsters at their bedsides and in the hospital’s play areas to hand out children’s books and autographs — while wearing her hot pink racing suit. Patients admired her helment with big smiles and asked questions about how fast she drives on the iconic street circut in downtown Long Beach.

“It’s so cool to be able to share my experience with the kids and talk to them about being in a pink truck and being a woman in motorsports,” Edenholm said. “It’s cool to come back and now have traditions that I’m doing, and being able to have a community at the Long Beach Grand Prix and have everyone here be so supportive.”

Edenholm, 24, has been racing Stadium Super Trucks with Robby Gordon Motorsports since 2021, according to her website. She will be the only woman racing in her category during this weekend’s Grand Prix, but she is among other female drivers who are making strides in the sport.

She shared with patients about her start, falling in love with karting and a need for speed at age 11.

“We’re so excited to have Zoe here again; this is her second year visiting the patients at Miller Children’s when she’s been in Long Beach for the Grand Prix,” said Rita Goshert, director of the Cherese Mari Laulhere Child Life Program at Miller. “It just brightens the patients’ day anytime we have a special visitor, but Zoey is just amazing with her pink race car suit and (her ability) to connect with the patients and really make a difference for them at a really scary time in their lives. Having a little bit of fun to look forward to really makes a difference.”

The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach begins on Friday, April 11, and runs until Sunday, April 13. The Stadium Super Truck races will take place the entire weekend, with the first practice — including Edenholm — at 12:25 p.m. Friday.
