Blood center reopens
Stanford Blood Center (SBC) reopened its South Bay Donation Center at 295 E. Hamilton Ave. in Campbell on Wednesday, Aug. 13, after shutting down for repairs earlier this summer.
SBC says the reopening comes at an especially crucial time, as the need for type O- blood has reached critical levels, with an urgent need for all other blood types as well. Through the month of August, SBC is giving donors a limited-edition San Francisco Giants and Stanford Blood Center co-branded jersey.
Donors should be in good health with no cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms. and must bring a photo ID. Donors must be at least 17 (16 with a parent or guardian’s consent).
Appointments can be made online at stanfordbloodcenter.org or by calling 888-723-7831. Walk-ins are always welcome.
Garden Grooves
Mary Ellen and Thom Duell with Simon Santiago are set to perform Aug. 24 at 1:30 p.m. at “Garden Grooves at the Ainsley House.”
The Duells play hits from the ’60s to the ’80s, while Santiago, a member of The Houserockers, covers pop, rock and folk from the ’60s through the 2000s.
Tickets are $30 at https://www.campbellmuseums.com/events-main and include two drink coupons for beer, wine or nonalcoholic beverages. Proceeds benefit the Campbell Museums through the Campbell Museum Foundation.
Seating is limited; attendees can bring their own low-back chair or blanket. Light snacks will be available for purchase.
Houserockers concert
The Houserockers close out the Campbell Summer Concert Series Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. on the Orchard City Green. The 10-piece rock band features a five-piece horn section and covers danceable hits from across the decades.
The preshow begins at 6 p.m. with “Parks Make Life Better” demonstrations. For more information, visit https://www.downtowncampbell.com.
