Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers hopes to practice Thursday

Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not practice Wednesday but hopes to try Thursday.

Speaking to reporters in Pittsburgh, Rodgers said Wednesday that in order to face the Bears on Sunday he’s “gotta the OK” from the team and has “gotta feel like I can protect myself.”

Rodgers broke his left wrist Sunday against the Bengals. Head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters Tuesday that functionality will play a major role in determining whether he can play at Soldier Field. The team will fit him with a brace and will need to see that Rodgers can handle the football and protect himself when he falls.

Rodgers told reporters in Pittsburgh that the Bears-Packers rivalry was the greatest in sports. He joked that he hoped Bears fans would be kind to him but that he doubted it.

Rodgers is 25-5 all-time against the Bears and once declared that he owned the Bears. He signed with the Steelers this offseason cognizant of their trip to Soldier Field.
