The Bears‘ owner won’t play Sunday.
Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers won’t face the Bears at Soldier Field, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told CBS about two hours before kickoff at the Lakefront.
“He fought his tail off all week, but that’s the prudent play for us to make as a collective,” Tomlin said.
Rodgers broke his left wrist a week ago against the Bengals. He wore a brace and was limited in practice Thursday and Friday. He said Thursday he wanted to play at Soldier Field, where he is 13-3 in his career, all as a member of the rival Packers.
Before 9 a.m., Rodgers walked a lap around Soldier Field with his left arm tucked into the pouch of his sweatshirt . He pointed to different parts of the stadium while talking to receiver Ben Skowronek, the Northwestern alum.
With Rodgers out, the Steelers will start Mason Rudolph, who replaced him last week and finished off the victory against the Bengals. He took most of the snaps in practice this week. The Bears are playing without all three starting linebackers.
