Stoic & Genuine space inside Union Station to become Korean, sushi restaurant

Union Station is getting ready to welcome its newest restaurant into a space left vacant a year ago.

Ogo Kitchen, a casual Korean restaurant serving meals in bento boxes, will open early next year on the west end of Union Station, at 1701 Wynkoop St., according to a statement from Ogo founder and chef Jackie Cho.

The pencil-thin dining room was introduced as part of the train depot’s 2014 renovation. Its first tenant was Stoic & Genuine, a seafood restaurant opened by pioneering Denver restaurateurs Beth Gruitch and Jennifer Jasinski that closed last September.

Cho’s menu includes Korean barbecue, sushi, bibimbap and katsu curry. Special attention will be given to gimbap, a seaweed and rice roll with beef or eggs that Cho’s grandmother used to make.

Most of the dishes are expected to come inside bento boxes: compact and attractive lunchboxes that can be eaten at the restaurant or elsewhere around Union Station.

The former Stoic & Genuine space is currently under construction. Union Station is managed by a group of development, investment and hospitality firms.
