One of two hawks stolen from a SoFi Stadium parking lot during a Rams game has been recovered in a Hacienda Heights backyard, 30 miles from SoFi.
Bubba the hawk was found Sunday, Oct. 5, his owner, falconer Charlie Cogger, told CBS on Sunday, Oct. 5. A good Samaritan had spotted the bird and called police, who contacted Cogger, he said.
Bubba is eight years old, CBS reported. The other hawk, 20-year-old Alice, remained at large.
The theft occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 28 when the suspect drove away in a maroon, two-seater Kawasaki Mule utility-task vehicle that had been left with the key in the ignition, Inglewood police said.
The pair of Harris hawks were in containers in the truck’s bed. Hawks are used to keep away other birds.
The truck was found two days later near Avalon and Century boulevards in South Los Angeles.
