LOS ANGELES — A man suspected of stealing a van and leading law enforcement officers on a chase was stuck and killed by multiple vehicles in Highland Park on Monday night after crossing over the center divider of the Arroyo Seco Parkway, also known as the 110 Freeway.
Officers began pursing the suspect on streets in the downtown Los Angeles area shortly before 9 p.m. Monday shortly before he entered the Arroyo Seco Parkway in Chinatown.
Minutes into the pursuit on the freeway, the driver exited the van near the Avenue 43 exit and was struck.
Multiple television stations reported he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert and said all lanes of the 110 were closed in both directions in the Mt. Washington area.
