Storm Floris has hit parts of the UK, bringing with it ‘unseasonably strong’ winds to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and northern England.

An amber warning for wind is in place from 10am this morning for large parts of Scotland, bringing with it injuries and danger to life.

This brings with it a warning of danger from large waves in coastal areas and flying debris and gusts of up to 90mph in some parts.

A yellow warning for wind is also in place for northern England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and other parts of Scotland which started at 6am.

Mainline rail services north of Newcastle on LNER services and north of Preston on Avanti West Coast services are cancelled because of the weather warnings.
