Students at Pierce College graduate as their families and friends cheer

Los Angeles Pierce College held its graduation on the morning of June 10, with 750 happy graduates showing off their graduation caps and waving to their families and friends, in honor of the 77th Commencement Ceremony at the widely admired college.

Founded in 1947 as the Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture, Pierce College grew from a school focused on agriculture to today’s broad offers of programs. In a measurement of its success, the college ranks in the top 7% of students who transfer to California State Universities and the top 11% of students who transfer to the University of California system.

That data makes Pierce a highly regarded community college for students who want to continue their education at four-year universities. Pierce College holds the lead in community colleges whose students are accepted to transfer to UCLA and California State University Northridge, putting Pierce above all 116 California community colleges.

Imee Perius, head of college public relations and marketing at Pierce, said the school’s honors program enrolled 480 students in 2025, one of the biggest honors programs in California.
