Snow is expected to continue falling into the weekend as subzero temperatures threaten to move through the Chicago area.
The National Weather Service is warning of hazardous conditions, including temperatures as low as 9 degrees below zero and wind chills of minus 25 from Saturday night into Sunday morning.
A slight reprieve is expected later Sunday, when high temperatures are forecast to rise to 11 degrees with the help of sunny skies. Before then, there’s a chance of snowfall each day from Wednesday to Saturday, according to the weather service.
Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 20 degrees on Thursday, and up to three inches of snow is possible, the weather service said.
By Friday, temperatures are forecast to drop into the single digits at night, with more snow possible as temperatures remain “bitterly cold” over the weekend.
