‘Summer-like’ temperatures return midweek after chilly weekend

After a taste of fall weather Saturday and Sunday, the Chicago area will see temperatures heating up again through the week, the National Weather Service reports.

Temperatures are expected to peak in the high 80s and low 90s Wednesday and Thursday after they dipped into the 40s Saturday and Sunday— for the first time since May.

Temperatures are expected to warm through the week, with some low-90s possible by Wednesday and Thursday. An increasing threat for grass and brush fires as very dry conditions develop through the week, as well. #ILwx #INwx pic.twitter.com/zrBobpN6Hr

No rain is forecast through the week, with clear skies expected to help create dry conditions that the weather service said increase the risk of grass and brush fires.

As Canadian wildfire smoke was hovering above most of the country Sunday, National Weather Service officials said it was high in the atmosphere and therefore unlikely to impact air quality.

Did you notice the milky appearance to the sky today? That wasn’t cloudiness, that was actually smoke from Canadian wildfires.
